Zia AskariGreen is everywhere! The telecom channel community should also gear itself up to provide green products to the end-customers, apart from educating them to go green and be eco-friendly. Taking the lead in going green, Samsung has recently unveiled its handset W510 with ‘bio-plastic’ made of natural material extracted from corn. The company has also introduced its another green model—F268. This model has an alarm function to encourage users to unplug their charger when the device is fully charged.

It is not only Samsung but global IT and eletronics majors such as Foxconn, Gigabyte, Asus, etc that are continously making an effort to develop products that are renewable and are made out of eco-friendly material compared with common plastic produced from petroleum, etc. Now, this is very important for the channel community to take this message from the vendors and pass this on to the end-customer properly. It becomes critical at a time when we all are undergoing a major energy crisis.

First of all, the channel will have to realize the importance of such green products that are energy-efficient, eco-friendly, made out of material, which is easily renewable and also have mechanism to control energy in a better way. As part of going with green products, partners would be required to develop messages, posters and other material that can convey the benefits of going green to the end-customers.

Whether it is a large format retail segment or channel partners in multi-brand retail format, this could be a big differentiating factor to be different from others. Green is certainly going to be a big focus for all the vendors in the coming months and the channel partners can prepare themselves for this green wave and stay with the current in a better way.
